Mobile Phone and Tablet Recycling

Mobile devices combine dense data with strong per-unit resale, but both depend on the device being released from management first.

How we handle phones and tablets

  1. 01

    Lock and enrollment checked

Activation Lock, FRP and MDM checked first. Unreleased devices are reported so you can release them.

  2. 02

    Sanitization verified

A verified reset on an encrypted device destroys the key. We confirm it completed rather than trusting the screen.

  3. 03

    Batteries assessed

Swollen or damaged lithium cells isolated immediately as a fire risk.

  4. 04

    Graded or destroyed

Released devices are graded for resale. Anything still locked is physically destroyed.

Materials recovered

  • Lithium-ion cells
  • Boards with high gold and rare earth density
  • Aluminum housings
  • Display glass and panel assemblies
  • Copper

Standards that apply

  • R2v3 downstream chain and focus materials
  • NIST SP 800-88 aligned verification
  • US DOT 49 CFR lithium transport

What it is realistically worth

The highest per-unit resale in a typical refresh, and the steepest depreciation, so timing matters. Releasing devices from MDM before collection is the highest-return five minutes in the process.
